Project Description

This is a first Medical based workshop of this kind in Australia.  Medical Massage is new in Australia.  Medical Massage addresses client discomforts. Unlike Therapeutic Massage, which focuses on relieving stress and tension, medical massage addresses dysfunction in the soft-tissues of the body.

Post-surgical intervention massage therapy course is based on over 15 years of my experience and research, working in conjunction with health care practitioners and patients in the mainstream health care setting. I have been very fortunate to work alongside and be supported by experienced professionals who use my services in assisting patient’s recovery.  Post Surgical massage intervention workshops teach participants how to use Massage Therapy to treat several different medical conditions. Specific treatment protocols will be demonstrated and practiced for each condition. Our belief is that certain conditions progress along a continuum, beginning with trauma and inflammation and ending with adhesions and muscle limitation. Medical Massage treatment protocols allow therapists to minimize the limiting effects of muscular dysfunction and assist in the healing process.

Learn Advanced Therapeutic Techniques in this practical workshop.  A 2 day training in understanding and assisting in the healing process of Post surgical patients who may have undergone Total hip and knee replacements or arthroscopies. We will be looking at scar tissue and management of scars.

It is a hands on workshop with the assistance of guest presenters and a hospital visit. There will be an opportunity to work on actual post surgical patients in this workshop.
